The people doing the work
should earn the money.
CrewFirst was built on a simple idea: traditional staffing agencies spend heavily on recruiters, offices, and overhead — and those costs come out of the worker's paycheck. We replaced that overhead with technology. The result is a $5/hr CrewFirst premium built into every placement. Every electrician we place earns it, every hour they work. That's not a promotion or a sign-on bonus. It's how we operate.
How the model works
Traditional staffing agency
A typical electrical staffing agency has a large office, a team of recruiters making cold calls, account managers, administrative staff, and all the overhead that comes with it. Those costs — often $80,000 to $120,000 per month — get baked into the spread between what the contractor pays and what the electrician earns.
The result: contractors pay high bill rates, electricians get whatever's left after the agency takes its cut, and the agency keeps the difference.
The CrewFirst model
CrewFirst uses AI for candidate sourcing, screening, credentialing, and matching — the work that traditional agencies need dozens of people to do. Our technology overhead is a fraction of what a traditional agency spends on staff and offices.
The result: contractors pay standard market bill rates, electricians earn a $5/hr premium on every hour worked, and CrewFirst operates on thinner margins at higher volume. Everyone wins except the old model.
FieldPass™
The FieldPass is CrewFirst's proprietary candidate profile. It replaces traditional resumes and recruiter summaries with a structured, data-rich card that gives contractors more useful hiring information than any staffing agency has ever provided.
What's on a FieldPass:
For new candidates (pre-placement):
- ✓ Verified license type and status with color-coded badges (green = verified, yellow = pending, red = expired)
- ✓ AI screening score (0–100) based on structured interview responses
- ✓ Work environment experience with years per type (commercial, residential, industrial, data center)
- ✓ System specializations and hands-on skill proficiency ratings
- ✓ Certifications (OSHA, arc flash, confined space, etc.) with verification status
- ✓ Tools, transportation, and geographic preferences
For experienced candidates (post-placement):
Everything above, plus:
- ✓ Total hours worked through CrewFirst
- ✓ On-time rate, reliability score, and quality score from real placement data
- ✓ Number of completed placements and client feedback highlights
- ✓ All-Star badge for top performers (500+ hours, 90%+ reliability, 85%+ quality)
- ✓ SafeStart history — full transparency on any prior swap events
SafeStart Guarantee™
Every placement through CrewFirst includes a no-cost replacement guarantee. If a contractor is unsatisfied with a placed electrician's performance within the first 40 hours, we replace the worker at no additional charge. The contractor pays only for hours actually worked.
How SafeStart works:
Contractor contacts us to request a replacement — by phone, text, or through the dashboard.
We capture structured feedback on the reason (skill mismatch, attendance, quality, etc.) to improve future matching.
Our matching system immediately runs against available candidates for the same job requirements.
Replacement FieldPass profiles are presented to the contractor for approval — typically within hours.
Upon approval, the replacement electrician is dispatched. The 40-hour guarantee window resets for the new worker.
SafeStart is automatic on every placement — it's not a negotiated add-on or premium service. It's how we do business. And every swap makes our matching system smarter, driving swap rates toward zero over time.
